My first blog

This is my first blog post . . . ever.

We have created this blog to keep our family and friends up to date on our journey over the next two years. (Thank-you Marietta for the idea.) We are moving to Maadi, Egypt at the end of August for two years. Mike will be teaching senior English at CISE. Becca is coming with us. She'll be in grade 10 and able to take all the same classes she would here in Canada except with a much different experience. How cool is that?!

When Mike accepted a teaching job with the Canadian International School of Egypt back in January, selling our house wasn't an immediate option. We thought we might rent or leave it empty so we'd have a place to come back to. But the more we thought about it, the more it made sense for us to try and sell it. We listed it on April 19th and sold it on May 30th with a closing date of July 12.
The closing date is much sooner than we had originally hoped for but I think it's going to make our transition from Canada to Egypt a little smoother. All our belongings will be in storage 6 weeks before we have to leave giving us 6 weeks of real summer vacation with no packing to worry about.
On July 11th the moving truck will be here to put everything in storage. We are moving to a lovely little furnished apartment on Glenora Road in Picton.

By the time we have settled in Picton we should have our plane tickets and departure date. Stay tuned!
